Connect to Facebook for free! [updated]
Two months ago, Facebook with other Big Telecom companies launched Zero version of its site for accessing it through Mobile Internet connection for Free. In India, this was available only to the Reliance and Videocon mobile users. Fortunately India’s one of the largest Telecom company , Bharti AirTel announced that they are now availing their 130 million plus users to use Facebook for free. You can use it from any GPRS enabled mobile handset. The great thing about this from zero facebook version is photos are also loaded. To use this service, type “FACEBOOK” and send it to “54321”, the SMS is also free. It will take some time to receive reply message from them- about ten minutes . If you already using Airtel Live, you can simply visit, http://m.facebook.com/ . Remember to use ,Change Internet Connection as Airtel Live. If you use Mobile Live setting, you may get charged . This service is available iin five Native languages – English and Hindi and later Punjabi, Bengali, Telugu, Tamil, and Malayalam will be added by July 15 . This free service is valid till August 31,2010.
Some of the other Airtel offers were Watch T20 IPL Live with 2 Mbps free Upgrade , Yesterday i got free Speed on Demand – 2 MBPS for 15 hours , I also got free Internet upgrade from 256Kbps to 512 Kbps , then i used Rs100 to double the speed to 1Mbps :) So now i get 1Mbps for Rs850. But today i got a warning from Airtel that you have crossed the Fair Usage policy limit :P . My download for June was around 51GB.
Update:
I was pissed off after using facebook. Although connecting to facebook does not cost, they cost for using Airtel Live :@
Update 2 : Instead of using m.facebook.com , you can use 0.facebook.com (zero-dot-facebook-dot-com) to access free facebook account in lighter version ! Check Zero version Facebook
Good thing that Airtel is providing some good offers this summer, They are trying to recapture subscriber base after the new players have come around
