Today , The Search gaint “Google” made Login through Encrupted page(https:) as optional. basically if you use gmail account through Secured page , it takes a quite time since it has to pass through a secured layer Protocol. Although it provides a Secure login page which is inevitable. So Here after you can choose to access your gmail account – Check mail – Compose – Move mail using unsecured pages that would be quite faster.
You can change the options by going to settings page (http://mail.google.com/mail/?shva=1#settings ) https login page is defaultly enabled .
